About Heating Repairs Glasgow
A Glasgow partnership of two Gas Safe engineers with 35 years combined
About Heating Repairs Glasgow
Heating Repairs Glasgow is a partnership run by James and Ross, two Glasgow-born plumbing and heating engineers with over 35 years of combined experience. We set the business up in 2022 after years of working for other companies, mostly because we wanted to do the work the way we thought it should be done: straight quotes, fair prices, and an engineer who actually answers the phone.
We cover all of Glasgow and the surrounding areas: Renfrewshire to the west, Lanarkshire to the east and south, and out to Helensburgh, Dumbarton, and Cumbernauld where needed. We are Gas Safe registered (#920672) and City & Guilds qualified, with £2 million of public liability insurance covering every job.
The services we offer cover the full range a typical Glasgow home or landlord needs from a heating engineer: boiler installations, repairs, and annual services, radiator installs, hot water cylinder replacements, full heating system fixes including chemical flushes and power flushes, bathroom installations from compact ensuites up to high-spec re-fits, all domestic plumbing repairs, and smart and traditional heating controls.
We are not the cheapest in Glasgow and we are not the biggest. What we aim to be is honest, on time, and properly qualified. Most of our customers come back to us for their next job and recommend us to friends and family. That word-of-mouth network is what keeps us busy, and it only works if every job is finished to the standard we would want in our own homes.
We're collecting verified reviews on Google. Get in touch if you'd like to speak to a recent customer for a reference.

Heating Repairs Glasgow was set up in 2022 by James and Ross after a combined 35 years of trade experience between them. Before going out on our own we both worked for several heating and plumbing firms around Glasgow, so the business is newer than the people running it.
Yes. We are Gas Safe registered under number 920672 and you can verify the registration on the Gas Safe Register website. Every gas job we attend is signed off by a Gas Safe engineer and we issue the relevant certificates on completion where required.
Standard hours are Monday to Friday 08:00 to 20:00 and Saturday 08:00 to 16:00. Sundays we are closed for family time. Out-of-hours and emergency work can sometimes be arranged by phone, but is not guaranteed.
Yes, every quote is free and there is no obligation to proceed. We will attend the property, look at the job, and send you a written quote with a clear price and a breakdown of what is included.
Yes. We carry £2 million of public liability insurance on every job, alongside Gas Safe registration and City & Guilds qualifications for our engineers.
A like-for-like boiler swap typically takes one full shift, around 9am to 6pm. More complex installs (system to combi conversion, relocation, or full house upgrades) can take longer, and we will give you a clear time estimate as part of the written quote so you can plan the day.
Warranties on the boiler itself run from 5 years up to 12 years depending on the manufacturer and model chosen. We register the warranty for you on the day of install. On top of that we provide a 12 month workmanship guarantee on the installation work itself.
Yes. Every boiler quote is free and comes with no obligation to commit. We will attend the property, look at your current setup, talk through your options and budget, and send you a written quote with a clear, itemised price.
We are happy to attend and give you an honest assessment of the best route to take. Sometimes a £150 repair will get another five years out of an existing boiler. Other times a new boiler will pay for itself in a couple of years on running costs alone. We will lay out both options and let you decide.
Yes. Every boiler installation is finished with a landlord gas safety certificate. If you are not a landlord you may not legally need one, but you still get the certificate as part of the job for your records and home insurance.
We can attend, look at the fault, and give you an honest assessment of the best course of action. Repairs are usually the right call on newer boilers, while older boilers with multiple faults are often more cost-effective to replace. We lay out both options up front so you can decide based on real numbers.
Typical boiler repairs take between one and four hours, depending on the fault and whether the part is on the van. We carry common spares for popular brands, so a lot of repairs are completed on the first visit. If a manufacturer-specific part needs ordering, we will let you know straight away and arrange a return visit as quickly as we can.
Yes. We have hands-on experience with every major boiler brand including Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Baxi, Ideal, Glow-worm, Potterton, Vokera, and more. Manufacturer-specific parts can be sourced quickly when needed.
If you go ahead with the repair we recommend, there is no separate diagnostic fee on top. We give you a single price for diagnosing and fixing the fault.
A standard boiler service takes between one and two hours. A full strip-down service takes between one and four hours depending on the boiler model. We will tell you in advance which level of service we recommend and roughly how long it will take so you can plan the morning or afternoon.
This depends on the age and condition of the boiler. A newer boiler that has been serviced annually is usually fine with a standard service. An older boiler, or one that has gone a year or two without servicing, often benefits from a full strip-down. We will give you an honest assessment when we arrive.
All landlords in Scotland require a gas safety certificate annually for their let properties. Homeowners do not legally require one, but many request it for peace of mind or to keep alongside their home insurance paperwork. We can combine the certificate with an annual service in a single visit.
Our engineers carry out heat loss calculations on each room before recommending a radiator. A correctly sized radiator heats the room faster, uses less gas, and stops the boiler short-cycling. Undersized radiators are the most common reason a heating system feels poor, even on modern boilers.
Yes. We install every type of radiator including designer column radiators, vertical radiators, cast iron radiators, towel rails, and traditional panel radiators. If you have a specific brand or finish in mind, let us know and we will source it or recommend an equivalent we have fitted before.
We can attend and give you an honest assessment of what your property needs. The right answer depends on the age and condition of your existing cylinder, the mains pressure and flow rate at your home, and how many hot water outlets you want running comfortably at the same time.
Yes. An unvented cylinder runs at mains pressure, so every hot water outlet in the house feels stronger, and showers run with the same pressure as the mains supply. There is no need for a separate cold water tank in the loft, which also frees up storage space.
Most cylinder installations are completed within one full shift, so you are not without hot water for long. The exact time depends on the cylinder size, whether existing pipework needs upgrading, and whether we are removing an old loft tank as part of the work.
Yes. We offer chemical system flushes (cheaper, suits lightly sludged systems) and full power flushes (more thorough, recommended for systems untouched for 10+ years). Both clear out the black corrosion debris that stops radiators heating evenly and damages boilers over time.
Yes. We carry out heating system repairs of every size, from a single dripping radiator valve up to a full system overhaul. There is no minimum job size and we are happy to come out for small jobs.
A typical full bathroom installation takes about four days from strip-out to final clean. More complex bathrooms (full re-tile, bespoke joinery, layout changes that need new pipework or electrics) can take longer, and we will give you a written schedule with the quote so you know what to expect.
No. We offer a streamlined service that covers every trade required for the job: plumbing, tiling, joinery, electrics, and plastering. You deal with us from the first quote through to the final handover, and we coordinate everyone behind the scenes.
No. Our rubbish removal team takes away your old bathroom suite and tiles as part of the job. You are not left with a pile of waste in the front garden or a skip you need to hire separately.
Yes. Some customers come to us with a fully developed design and we install to that spec. Others want guidance on layout, fixtures, and finishes that will work in the space. We are happy to design alongside you and suggest suppliers we trust.
We offer an 18 month workmanship guarantee on the bathroom installation. Anything we fitted that fails inside that window we come back and put right at no charge. Fixtures themselves are covered by their manufacturer warranties on top of that.
All aspects of domestic plumbing repairs. That includes toilet repairs, leaks, tap repairs and replacements, outside tap installations, shower repairs (mixers and thermostatic valves), blockages in waste pipes and traps, washing machine and dishwasher hookups, and emergency stopcock repairs.
Yes. There is no minimum job size. A dripping tap is just as welcome as a full bathroom install. We will give you a price for the work, fit you into the schedule, and get it sorted.
Every plumbing repair is backed by a 12 month workmanship guarantee. If something we fitted leaks, drips, or fails in that period we come back and put it right at no charge. Fixtures themselves carry their own manufacturer warranties.
Yes. We install Hive, Google Nest, and Tado smart thermostats. We handle the wiring, the receiver pairing, and the app setup, then walk you through how to use the schedule and the temperature controls before we leave.
If you would rather not deal with apps, a standard wired or wireless room thermostat with a programmer is often the better fit. We fit both. We will talk through how you use heating day to day and recommend the option that will actually save you money in your house, not the one with the biggest sales margin.
